About
LIGHT – Lifescience Innovation Good Healthcare Technology – is a new technological infrastructure for operational innovation in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Biopharmaceuticals, and Digital Health Care. It was established by the University of Brescia in collaboration with companies Dompè Farmaceutici S.p.A., an Italian leader in the biopharmaceutical sector, and Antares Vision Group, an Italian multinational leader in traceability and quality control of products and supply chains. LIGHT is a no-profit initiative, based on a public-private partnership that has raised €10 million in funds, receiving support from the Ministry of University and Research through the PNRR Innovation Infrastructure Grant.
Goal
To combine and expand existing technological resources to create a new infrastructure open to researchers and companies, consisting of 3 hubs.
Methods
To pool tools and know-how from universities and industrial research in order to provide services and resources to accelerate the testing of reliable AI in Biopharma & Digital Health, developing national and international innovation projects and synergies for health based on ethical and safe AI.
Results
Expected outcomes include Innovation Projects, New Products, the construction of a network of laboratories, the development of Open Science initiatives, the formation of multidisciplinary teams, and support for training in AI Digital skills for Health.
Laboratory Locations
LIGHT is based in a central location in Brescia, which expands and modernizes the laboratories of the Multisectoral and Technological Service Center S.R.L. (CSMT), and supports interventions in operational locations of Travagliato (BS), L’Aquila, and Naples.
